Main Point: God’s active, penetrating Word enables His people to live by faith in His promises.
I. The Word is Living & Active
“…you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding Word of God.” — 1 Peter 1:23
“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” — Romans 10:17
“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” — Isaiah 55:10-11
II. The Word Penetrates Deeply
#1 – It cuts through the hardened shell of our unbelieving hearts, leading us to salvation
#2 – It cuts through hearts that are beginning to harden to the Lord, to bring us back into fellowship with Him
III. The Word Discerns the Heart
