Due to rising food costs at the grocery store, low-income families in our community are really feeling the pinch. Combined with having the kids out of school for the summer means a harder struggle to provide healthy meals. KOC is running a Kids Summer Food Bag Program through August and GCC can help! Here’s What KOC has to say:
We need your help to feed local children this summer! The end of the school year starts on Tuesday, June 13th. For many families, this time marks the beginning of vacations, summer camps, and fun activities. But for our neighbors struggling with food insecurity, this time brings anxiety and uncertainty about providing meals their children would otherwise receive in school.
To help ensure that everyone has a happy and nutritious summer, Keystone Opportunity Center is once again hosting our Kids Summer Food Bag Program. Last month, our food pantry served families that included over 220 kids. That is 43% more than this time last year! To help meet the needs of our pantry families, we will need over 700 bags of kid-friendly food between June and August. Can we count on your help throughout the summer to meet the needs of our Kid’s Summer Food Bag Program? Getting involved is very easy!
Simply fill a large, reusable shopping bag OR brown bag with the items below:
• Peanut Butter and Jelly
• Pudding and/or Fruit Cup(4 Pack)Â
• Applesauce (6 Pack)
• Ready to Eat Chicken or Tuna Salad Kit
• Hormel Ready to Eat Meals Â
• 1 Package of Goldfish or Microwavable PopcornÂ
• Macaroni & Cheese(4 Pack, Microwavable)
• Juice Boxes (6 or 8 Pack)
• Breakfast Cereal (Low Sugar)
• 2 Cans of Spaghettios with Meatballs
• 1 Box of Granola Bars, Fruit Snacks, or Peanut Butter CrackersWe can also accept fresh fruit that we can offer along with a food bag. You are also welcome to include craft packets and other summer kid’s activities in the bag. Be creative and have fun while helping our younger neighbors in need.
